My name is Amanda Janke and I am originally from McHenry, Illinois but was raised near Gilbert, Arizona. I have always been passionate about helping others and wanted to pursue a career doing just that. I graduated from ASU in 2013 with a Bachelor's in Family and Human Development and a minor in Dance. Following graduation, however, I decided to move overseas to China where I taught English for two years. It was one of the best experiences of my life and while living there, I began writing and blogging about my adventures. I fell in love with writing and decided to pursue it as a career. I am in the early stages of my writing career but I am so excited to learn, grow, and improve myself. I am passionate about people, travel, and mental health issues. I have had pieces posted on and I am also a contributor on The Mighty. While my writing up to this point has centered around mental health topics, I am looking to expand my work to other arenas. In my free time I enjoy hiking, dancing, and spending time with my new husband and puppy.
